Her work on The Entrepreneurial State and her presentation ‘The Division of Innovative Labour and the Risk-Reward Nexus‘ provided key inputs for the final report ‘No Stone Unturned‘, launched on October 31st.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Mazzucato participated in the event as one of the Ford Foundation grantees and was part of the discussion panel in the session “Financing of Innovation in Brazil” of the Minds/Ford Foundation workshop “Financial Institutions For Innovation And Development: The Cases of Brazil and India”.
Brussels, Belgium – Mazzucato was the guest speaker for the fourth edition of series ‘It’s the Economy, Stupid!’, hosted by deBuren in Brussels, where she argued that the role of the state in economic growth and innovation is systematically underestimated, a point of view she expanded on in publications such as the recently published pamphlet The Entrepreneurial State.
Port of Tyne, United Kingdom – Mazzucato presented her work on Finance and Innovation Growth and her pamphlet The Entrepreneurial State for a discussion on “How do we mobilise assets and capabilities for Innovation?” at the IPPR North Commission meeting.
Brussels, Belgium – Mazzucato contributed to the second meeting of the i4g (Innovation for Growth) group, of which she is a member, held in Brussels.
Brussels, Belgium – Horizon 2020 is the EU´s framework programme for research and innovation. This conference explored how EU funding can promote economically and socially sustainable innovation models with the aim of more openness, easier accessibility and higher result-oriented efficiency. The conference examined what it means to treat knowledge as a public good in policy making and how this should affect future EU funding schemes for research and innovation.
London, United Kingdom – Mazzucato gave the presentation “Innovation policy: the limits of the ‘market failure’ view of government intervention. Lessons for the UK” and talked about her recent publication The Entrepreneurial State.
Brussels, Belgium – Mazzucato was invited to present at the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation seminar. She spoke about the role of the member states and the EU for innovation policy. The seminar was attended by representatives from the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation.
Bordeaux, France – At the workshop on “The Trends in Income Inequality” Mazzucato and Prof. Lazonick presented a paper entitled “Innovation, Inequalities and the Risk-Reward Nexus”. The workshop was organised by the University of Bordeaux. The programme can be viewed here.
Stuttgart, Germany – Mazzucato was invited to the Lisbon Civic Forum 2010 to present FINNOV project findings and policy recommendations that will be published in 2012 in the paper entitled “Innovation and Economic/Financial Performance: Recent Results and Questions for Future Research”.
Aalborg, Denmark – The 13th Conference of the International Schumpeter Society took place at Aalborg Congress and Culture Centre in Aalborg, Denmark. The title of the conference was “Innovation, Organisation, Sustainability and Crises”. Mazzucato chaired the Parallel Session A1: Finance and Innovation on 21st June and presented two papers: “Innovation and Stock Price Volatility” and “Innovation and Firm Growth: Is R&D worth it?“.
